Beverly is there really anything quite as powerfull as a good ride with a good horse? Much as I like my Wing, do not have to saddle it, curry it, feed it oats, lol, but I'll take being on the back and becoming one with one of Gods most noble animals anyday.
I have a fondess for Appaloosa and a dream that maybe one day I'll get to do. Go out west somehere where there is still open space and spend the entire day riding without sight or evidence of mankind. No stop signs, smoke stacks, car horns or even a empty can on the ground. Sigh, guess I can dream.
Peace and love
Terry

I love Appaloosa too. Although my first love is Quarter Horse. Cooper was a Quarter Horse/Morgan, one big horse. She was powerful. My father's horse that is still on the farm, he is Quarter Horse/Appaloosa and has quite the stubborn streak. He can move like the wind and is very beautiful. He is very tall.
I truly love the heavy horses the best. I had an opportunity to ride one and galloping on the prairies was like riding butter, utterly smooth.
I love sinking into my horse, being in synch, watching when my and my mum's shared horse (Hackney Pony with unusure horse lineage) would sniff bear. Her ears would twitch, her nose would twitch and she was always right. Stryker (my dad's horse) never could sniff them out like her. We figure since she was smaller, it was probably protective.
I loved going out on my horse as a kid when life sucked and spend all day on her. She knew everything. Many times we'd ride in silence, just being.
Definitely dream. I miss Copper and later, Pip. We never did get another horse when Pip passed. And I just don't have it in my anymore to ride such a powerful horse as Stryker.
There is truly something that is unique and yes, even spiritual with a horse.
