Anyway, by stating who but not why, you are not adding any substance to this discussion so I will close with ... All presidents have positive and negative factors in their administrations. Some are their fault but many were issues already fulminating. How they react to them discriminates which of them will be called best or worst. Since it is all relative, using such concrete terms as best or worst, does no good at all except to keep the black and white thinkers believing that there is a simplistic answer to everything. I just want to have some fun with folks here on TBD. What's wrong with having an opinion based on my views and US history? And the question was "of the last 50 years". So from 1958 to current is the time frame. There were only 2 presidents that preceded LBJ during that time. Ike and JFK. Guess you didn't read the whole question. I was just thinking of Scarecrow's post. Jimmy Carter may have not been the most effective president, but he is a great humanitarian. There is no criteria for judging best or worse. Are we talking just policy, or morals, or what? At any rate, you are correct. It isn't all black and white. Posted: Sep 24, 08 11:48amJimmy Carter Posted: Sep 24, 08 12:06pmWhen you limit the choices to the last 50 years the choice becomes difficult. We had some real dosies before then. But with all things considered I believe Richard Nixon gets the title. Yes he had accomplishments. Some of them outstanding but all of that was overshadowed by the fact that he was a crook in spite of the fact that he said he was not. He also began the move toward an all powerful Presidency and see what we have now. Posted: Sep 24, 08 12:25pmHey Milt-- no need to be insulting. Lighten up..... |
